Sugato is an alumni of IIT Varanasi and IIM Bangalore and has 36 years of corporate experience at Leadership levels across Sales and Marketing, Advertising, and leading business operations with PNL responsibility.

​After initial sales experience in Modi Xerox, he   then led client management in top advertising agencies like JWT (now VML) and Lintas. From advertising he moved to Marketing at   Standard Chartered Bank where he was Head Marketing and Alliances (Consumer Bank). This was followed by 5 years in Airtel as CMO-DTH/Media where he was part of the startup team that set up and successfully made the Airtel DTH service a close 2 in a crowded 6 player market in 18 months of operation. His last corporate stint for 7 years was as Business Head DTH in Dish TV overseeing the sales, distribution and service functions for Dish TV. Since 2025 he has entered an entrepreneurial phase and is advising MSMEs on Strategy and Scaling up operations.

At Lighthouse he works closely with the MD in developing the leadership search practice in the Corporate sector, with a special focus on Promoter Driven Companies and Startups.
